In my practice...
Writing: Not in terms of the essayistic. Inscription of essence and spirit, with the visual (note* not image) acting as a subtitle.
Language: Universal stemmed from the personal. Symbolic and emblematic .
Prose : Composition: Poetic flow of form: Rhythmic.
A dialect of colour.
Baptism and/ or resurrection of dialogue between sensation, intuition and cognition within the individual and between me and the spectator.
Melodic narrative of colour: Synesthetic. Its frequency, vibrations, and mute noise.
To look and see.
To hear and listen.
To read and read.

Heidegger's groundless ground, Abgrund, and Lévinas' il y a, the primordial question mark which fills the space prior to being and after non-being.
A rejection of objecthood and a human fundamentalist urge to purge the inscrutable and replace with the intelligible.
Succumbing to sensuality, and accepting this abyss.
An eternal return of origin.
The work is the ovum, the spectator the sperm.
My practice is a personal zeitgeist, whilst each piece is its own epoch.

A work in progress, inspired by coloured air.
Some have said the gnarled and knotted composition of the trees to be reminiscent of Tim Burton’s illustrations. This was not a contrived attempt on my part, but I was inspired by my etchings which did seem to manifest an illustrative quality with a melody of the whimsical and fantastical.
This piece is about a third of the way finished and it has taken me about two months to get it to this stage. I have been using a traditional and laborious technique where by thin layers of transparencies (using medium and emulsion) are built up so as to create a glow and an aura of atmosphere (these subtle nuances have not been captured on camera very well,and in the flesh this piece looks different). My teacher Abraham Pincas taught me this is how one creates depth, and “you need the penetration for it to feel good...”...!
